Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM) is a leading global semiconductor company for wired and wireless communications. Its products enable the delivery of voice, data and multimedia to and within the home, office and mobile environments. Broadcom provides manufacturers of computing and networking equipment, digital entertainment and broadband access products, and mobile devices with the industry's broadest portfolio of best-in-class system-on-chip and software solutions.
In July 2018, Broadcom and enterprise software company CA Technologies announced that the two parties had reached a cash acquisition agreement of $18.9 billion. [1]
In 2019, it was selected into the "2019 Forbes Global Digital Economy Top 100", ranking 30th.
On November 23, 2010, Broadcom Corporation, the global market leader in wired and wireless communications semiconductors, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Gigle Networks. Gigle Networks is a privately held company developing system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for interconnecting homes over power lines. Broadcom expects to pay approximately $75 million for the acquisition to acquire all of Gigle Networks' outstanding stock and other rights. Broadcom's products will be able to provide more functionality to customers in the broadband home market, such as set-top boxes, broadband operator access, and wireless routers, after adopting powerline technology.
